When In Shimla
I walk out to the night of District Shimla, the sound of bedardiya song fades in and out, I walk a mile moving towards the sound of the song, can't walk straight coz I had too much to drink while betting downstairs, a truck passes and I light the Marlboro red. I smoke strong red whenever I'm feeling low though I've won 10k in betting. I should be partying back in the hotel yet I find myself walking, missing Ankita.
She broke up with me 6 years ago but I miss her whenever I'm in Shimla, I taught her how to ride a bike, my bike keys jingle in my pocket. The song stops playing and somewhere nearby the lights go off. It's now silent and dark everywhere, I look back and there's nothing to see. Just this white strip on the road shines while another truck pass.
Then I hear a girls voice saying something in local dialect. "Ankita" I say out loud and look all around but there's nobody, just my foot crunching gravel, and I hear the voice again, this time she speaks in hindi "Mujhe ghar chod do" and then she starts crying . I start running back to the hotel, the lights go on and off and then I hear the same voice saying my name again but I don't look back and don't stop until I reach the shop I bought the smoke from but there's no shop there just the hotel's sign and my bike parked next to it.
A dog howls somewhere and I walk into my room, everyone is sleeping except one girl who was not with us the whole time. She looks at me and says "Mujhe ghar chod do" and then disappears
